Specific Objectives:
1. Ensure the ECF maximises income from the British Championships (including sponsorship and contributions from the area chosen to hold the championships (e.g. local Councils, Hotels, local businesses etc.) and other ECF events.
2. Raise donations for the England Teams participation in international events
3. Raise money to help fund the Elite Development Programme.
4. Raise money to help fund Junior Development and Chess in Schools programmes

Non-Executive Director
Under the Directors’ and Officers’ Responsibilities Regulations, the functions of a Non-Executive Director are:

  • to bring business, chess-playing and organisational skills and experience to bear on the Board’s decision-making process, acting at all times in the interests of the ECF as a whole.
  • to monitor in a non-executive capacity the Executive Directors.

They will support the Office to ensure that the Office ICT is maintained, and provide advice as necessary on upgrades to the Office ICT infrastructure.
The Manager is appointed by the Board and reports to the acting Chief Executive.

Publicity Officer
The person appointed will be responsible for attempting to place favourable items of chess news in the media on a regular basis. They will work closely with organisers of League, County and Congress events, many of which currently receive little or no publicity, in order to obtain media coverage of such events. There will be a particular need to work on publicising such events on Mondays and Tuesdays as the results of weekend events are made available by organisers. They will also be responsible for encouraging such organisers to produce suitable material for press releases.
Maximum publicity needs to be obtained for International Events which include England Teams and also of individual International Events where English players are competing.
The Publicity Officer will report to the ECF Director of Marketing and will need to build working relationships with all ECF Directors as well as the ECF Office who currently issue Press Releases.
