Publicity Officer, the British Chess Championships 2014

The Federation wishes to appoint a person to the role of Publicity Officer the above event which is to take place at Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth from 19th July to 2nd August 2014.

Conditions of this contract

(1) This role will include updating blogs, publicity videos for YouTube, Twitter/Facebook/Vine (i.e. official ECF social media), and photographs which are to be published on the official ECF/Championships site(s).

(2) Writing daily reports for ECF website which are to be published by 10 am latest on the day following each round.

(3) The successful applicant will also be expected to work closely with the Congress Organiser(s)

(4) Liaise with officials of Ceredigion County Council and Aberystyth Town Council regarding publicity for the Congress including any social events organised.

Any applications should be in the form of an email marked clearly “Championship Bid (Publicity Officer)” sent to The Congress Manager and should arrive no later than Monday 20th January 2014 and clearly state the terms of the prospective tender. Any bids not received by that date may be rejected.

A sub-committee will consider each bid and will advise all parties in writing with letters or emails posted no later than Monday 10th February 2014 whether their bid has been successful. The bidding procedure is confidential, the Federation may accept/reject any bid without assigning a reason and will not enter into any correspondence relating to the bidding procedure.

Bookstall, the British Chess Championships 2014

The Federation invites tenders for the Bookstall concession at the above event which is to take place at Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth from 19th July to 2nd August 2014.

Bids can include the sales of computers/software in addition to books.

The bidder is invited to include in the tender the provision of free or discounted books for distribution as prizes by our commentator and our coach.

Any bids should be in the form of an email marked clearly “Championship Bid – (Chess Merchandiser)” sent to The Congress Manager and should arrive no later than Monday 20th January 2014 and clearly state the terms of the prospective tender. Any bids not received by that date may be rejected.

Commentary & Webcast, the British Chess Championships 2014

The Federation invites tenders for the Daily Live Commentary and Webcast at the above event which is to take place at Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth from 19th July to 2nd August 2014. The Championship playing sessions are SATURDAY, 19th JULY – main play is from Monday 29th TUESDAY, 29th July beginning at 2.30 pm, and WEDNESDAY, 30th July beginning at 9.30 am. SATURDAY, 26th July is a rest day.

Conditions of this contract

(1) The commentator is expected to arrive at the venue by 11 am latest on Saturday, 19th July in order to ensure that he/she has access to all equipment needed.
(2) The Commentator’s Game of the Day must be uploaded to the ECF Youtube Account daily.
(3) The Commentator should be available to present the game of the day prize at the start of play each day.

Any bids should be in the form of an email marked clearly “Championship Bid – (Commentary)” sent to The Congress Manager and should arrive no later than Monday 20th January 2014 and clearly state the terms of the prospective tender. Any bids not received by that date may be rejected.

Please include hours you are prepared to work, any accreditation and a brief chess CV.

Games Co-ordinator, the British Chess Championships 2014

The Federation wishes to appoint a person to the role of Games Co-ordinator for the above event which is to take place at Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth from 19th July to 2nd August 2014.

Conditions of this contract

(1) The successful applicant will fulfil the role of ensuring all games are uploaded to the official ECF/Championship Website -

  • For All Championship games (including Junior Champs and Graded Champs) but excluding the U8 Section within 24 hours of the end of the session at the LATEST.
  • For all other games within 48 hours of the end of the session at the latest.

It is hoped that in both cases the games will be uploaded quickly.

(2) It is envisaged that there will be members of each arbiting team also inputting games and the successful applicant will work with these people to ensure all games are uploaded.

Junior Coaching, the British Chess Championships 2014

The Federation invites tenders for the Junior Coaching at the above event which is to take place at Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth from 19th July to 2nd August 2014. A coaching afternoon is being arranged for Monday, 21st July and the appointed coach must be available to deliver this.

Any bids should be in the form of an email marked clearly “Championship Bid – (Junior Coaching)” sent to The Congress Manager and should arrive no later than Monday 20th January 2014 and clearly state the terms of the prospective tender. Any bids not received by that date may be rejected.

Please include a potential syllabus for the coaching, hours you are prepared to work, accreditation and a brief coaching CV.
