and Black can resign. On a completely different note - did you know Philidor never actually played Philidor's Defence!

2) 57 Rxe4+! Kxe4 58 Kh2!
and Black resigned due to 58...g4 (or 58...h4 59 Kh3 Kd4 60 Kg4 winning) 59 Kg3 Kd4 60 Kh4 etc. Note that 58 Kf2 h4 59 a4 g4 60 a5 Kd5 61 Ke3 h3 is a draw.

3) 1 Nf6+!! gxf6 2 exf6
and Black could resign due to the twin threats of Qd6-g3+-g7# and Qd6xf8+ with Rd1-d8# to follow.
