All team members of each team reaching the finals will receive a commemorative trophy.

The finals are due to take place at a central venue on July 9^th 2000.
All games in the event will be completed by a quickplay finish where necessary.

NATIONAL CHESS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES

The full rules will be sent to competing teams at the start of the series.

The competitions are open to chess clubs in Great Britain. Clubs outside Great Britain for the Open, or outside England for the other events, may enter at the Controller's discretion.
Each team may represent only one club. A club may enter more than one team in one or more sections of the competition.
Grading limits in the Major (Under 175), Intermediate (Under 150), Minor (Under 125) and Under 100 grade competitions apply to all players in that team. Ungraded players may only enter these events if their match captain feels certain they are eligible and the local grader confirms this, where data exists.
All players must be bona fide members of the club represented.
A play may play for different teams or clubs in different sections of the competition but, having played once for any team in a particular section, s/he is ineligible to play for any other team in that section.
Teams are 6 a side in the Open and 5 a side in the other 4 competitions.
Each tournament is run as a knock-out.
Early rounds will be zoned to reduce travelling where possible. Teams must expect to travel considerable distances or play by telephone in the later stages.
The finals of the competitions will be held at a central venue, to be announced.
The rate of play will be 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by all moves in 30 minutes. Where DGT electronic clocks are used, the following rate of play is recommended: 40 moves in 100 minutes followed by all moves in 20 minutes; every time a move is made from the start, the player receives an extra 30 seconds. This has the advantage of rendering unnecessary the rules relating to 'can't win by normal means'. Other rates of play, such as shorter or longer sessions, may be mutually agreed.
The time limit for telephone matches will be determined in advance by the Controller.
A team winning the toss must take white on odd. In the event of a tie Board Count will be used, failing that End-Board Elimination. If all games are drawn, the tie will be resolved by a rapidplay match, with colours reversed, played at the rate of all moves in 30 minutes.
All decisions and interpretations of the Rules by the Controller shall be final.
