TIMES SCHOOLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2000/1: ENTRIES

You may have learned of the death of Mitchell Taylor, long-time Chief Conductor of the Times School Chess Championship. Mitchell had not been well for some time but was determined to continue organising the competition as long as possible. His passing has created some temporary organisational difficulties.

The 2000/2001 Times Schools Championship will take place and on this occasion may be regarded as a fitting tribute to Mitchell Taylor’s memory.

NEW CONDUCTOR
Richard Haddrell has offered to control this year’s event.

The immediate difficulties for me are:
1. The entries have gone to Mitchell’s address.
2. I have no documentation giving contact details of Zone Conductors, copies of information sent to participating schools, guidance notes on the conduct/organisation of the event etc.
3. Some schools have not received entry forms.

Actions taken on the above:
1. Stephanie Taylor, Mitchell’s daughter, is putting her father’s papers in order and will send all appropriate documents to me as soon as she is ready. Entries held by Stephanie will be passed on to Richard Haddrell.
2. By various means we are trying to establish an accurate list of Zones and Zone Conductors.
3. A new entry form is appended. There is no need to return it if you have already entered.

The start date of the competition will be delayed. I think the first round is likely to be in November.

URGENT!!- If you are a Zone Conductor or know someone who is, could you send contact details to Richard: 01892 532361 rjh@sccu.ndo.co.uk
