Yerevan and Tomsk-400 win ECC 2006
Women
An exciting final brings the last round. Mika Yerevan can´t manage a win
against Cheliabinsk. All four games end draw. So Sakartvelo would have won title
with a victory against Saratov. However, after two draws Natalija Pogonina stops
with a win against Nana Dzagnidze all hopes and makes Yerevan to European Club
Cup winner 2006. A great success for Chiburdanidze, Danielian, Khurtsidze and
Aginian, who were ranked as number 7 only.
A win of Maia Lomineishvili against Anna Sharevich saves silver medal for Sakartvelo, which could have slept easily away. Favorit Krasnoturinsk makes 2,5 points against Podgorica and gets 3rd place with best board-points.
Men
Tomsk-400 wins ECC 2006. First they had do deal with a shock. Mamedyiarov brings
lead to Cheboksary in a russian duel after one and a half hour only. But Morozevich
and his team fight back. On board one Alexander Mozevich, who is actual number
5 of world rank list, outplays Boris Gelfand. After another win of Ernesto Inarkiev
against Alexander Khalifman Tomsk-400 celabrates title thanks to best tie-break.
Lady Kazan and Ural Sverdlovskaya get 12 points in table like Tomsk-400. Both russian teams win in last round with 3,5:2,5 against Clichy and Werder Bremen. Even four player with a rating of 2700 at least are not a guarantee to win. Svidler, Shirov, Akopian and Grischuk have to be satisfied with 3rd place. Best no russian team is Ashdod City Club (ISR) thanks to a 3,5:2,5 win against Solingen.
Women
Status quo on top of table is unchanged after round 6. Yerevan wins 3,5:0,5
against Herzliya Chess Club. Only Maia Chiburdanidse accepts a draw offer of
Irina Botvinnik after 6 moves. Nino Khrutsidze shows excellent form. She scores
again full point and has now 5,5/6.
First follower Sakartvelo shows no bareness. A clear 3:1 against Podgorica brings us a great final. Yerevan hast to win to save first place. Just one lost point and Sakartvelo may win title because of better tie-break. Both teams don´t have an easy task in todays last round. Yerevan fights against Cheliabins, Sakartvelo against Saratov. Best chances for third place has Krasnoturins with best tie-break of all teams.
Men
Russian teams have all chances for title. Five teams lead with 10 points. Only
Clichy (FRA) breaks russian phalanx with place 2 after 6th round. Pairings for
last round are:Tomsk-400 - Cheboksary, Clichy - Ladya Kazan and Werder Bremen
- Ural Sverdlovskaya. Favorit is Tomsk-400 thanks to a 6:0 victory against KSK
47 Eynatten (BEL) which brings best tie-break of all teams. Of course Morecevich
and his team have to win against Cheboksary to save first place.
Yesterday Lady Kazan and Ural Sverdlovskaya play a 3:3. Cheboksary wins against Pardubice with 4:2, Clichy against Skopje 4;5:1,5 and Skopje against Ashdod City Club with 4:2 and join top-teams in table.
Women
Preliminary decision in womens competition. Round 5 brings a 2,5:1,5 for Yerevan
against Saratov. Maia Chiburdandse wins a benoni against Natalija Pogonina.
This is basis for this 4th team win. Now Yerevan has played against nearly all
strong team and all chances to win tournament. Only stumbling block could be
team of Cheliabinsk, who are second placed in start ranking list, but play bad.
Yesterday they lost against St. Petersburg with 0,5:3,5.
Georgian Club Energy-Investi Sakartvelo takes two points from favorit Krasnoturinsk. Stefanova saves a difficult position for the russian team in her game with Dzagnidze and Tatiana Kosintseva wins against Javekhishvili, but Sopio Gvetadze and Maia Lomineishvili save two points with wins against Nadezhda Kosintseva and Anna Muzychuk. However, Sakartvelo now is one point behind Yerevan and has to wait for help from other teams in last two rounds.
Men
An exciting final is promised in mens competition. Ural Sverdlovskaya and Ladya
Kazan win against Elara Cheboksary and Ashdod City Club. Both pairings endet
with 5 draws and one win. Alexander Grischuk for Sverdlovskaya and Iljin Artem
for Cheboksara are the match winners. Both teams lead with 9,5 points.
Seven teams follow with 9 points. Bank King (ARM) takes one point from favorit Tomsk-400. Clichy wins against Gros Xake Taldea with 3,5:2,5 thanks to Nisipeanu, who outplays Loek Van Wely on board 1. Pardubice (CZE), Alkaloid Skopje (MKD), Elare Cheboksary (RUS) and KSK 47 Eynatten (BEL) complete row of haunters.
Women
First team-draw for Yerevan. Maia Chiburdanidse wins against Nana Dzagnidze
but Lela Javakhishvili keeps for Sakartvele a 2:2. Russian favorit Krasnoturins
shows best form in match with Herzliya. Stefanova, Kosintseva Tatiana, Kosintseva,
Nadezhda and Maria Kursova win all games. Result is 4:0.
An important success gets Saratov with a 2,5:1,5 against Podgorica. On board 2 Elisabeht Paehtz loses against Pia Cramling, but Baira Kovanova and Anna Sharevich turn to fight in favour for her team. Cheliabins and St. Petersburg win 4:0 against Rijeka and Vandoeuvre Echecs.
Men
Only team with 8 team points after 4 rounds is Elare Cheboksary. Gelfand and
his team beat Clichy with 3,5:2,5 thanks to wins of Mamedyarov and Korotylev.
Close in table are Rückstand Tomsk-400 (RUS), Ashdod City Club (ISR), Ural
Sverdlosvkay (RUS) Ladya Kazan (RUS) and Bank King (ARM). Favorits are in front,
except TPS Saransk (RUS). The number 4 of starting rank list loses against Ashdod
City Club with 2:4. This second loss takes the team out of fight for title.
Good results brings with Vanianka Gran (BLR) and Sellentuna Chess two outsider under top 10 of table with places 8 and 9. A direct duel of two german teams brings Werder Bremen a 5:1 against SG Solingen and place 7. Todays 5th round will show which teams are able to fight for title.
Women
Third win in a row for Nino Khurtsidze and Mika Yeravan. The armenian Team of
Maia Chiburdanidse gets a narrow victory against Chess Club Podgorica and has
now beaten numbers 1, 3 and 4 of the starting rank list. Nino Khurtsidze wins
a decisive game and scores 3 points from 3 games.
A direct duel of the russians favorits brings a 3,5:0,5 for Krasnoturinsk against Cheliabinsk. Only Stefanova draws her game on board one against Kovalevskaya. Petersburg, number 3 of starting list, loses 1:3 against Sakartvelo from Georgia. This is a big disappointment for Cmilyte and her team, because the chance to win title has gone with this second loss. Saratova keeps this chance with a second win against Kristallens Chess Club. Pogonina, Paehtz, Komiagina and Sharevich score 3,5:0,5.
Men
Topfavorit Ural Sverdlovskaya reaches a 3:3 only against Bank King (ARM). Svidler,
Shirov and Grischuk draw their games against Asrian, Lputian and Vaganjan. A
victory from Malakhov is compensated by the number 6 of Bank King, Tigran Petrosian.
However. An advantage of 100 Elo more on each board wasn´t enough to win.
An narrow victory gets Elara Cheboksary (RUS). Werder Bremen (GER) is beaten with 3,5:2,5. Wins of Mamedyarov and Navara are decisive, because the only win for Bremen gets Nyback against Bareev. Of course, this is the sensation of the round, but doesn´t help german team to get a point.
Big disappointment for the team of Vassily Ivanchuk. TPS Saransk loses against Gros Xake Taldea (ESP) 2,5:3,5. Ivanchuk draws with Loek van Wely. Four teams lead with six points now in table: Tomsk-400, Gos Xake Talde, Ladya Kazan (RUS) with Radjabo and Kasimdhhanov and Clichy (FRA) with Nisipeanu, Naidischt and Pelletier.
Women
Chess Club Podgorica (MNE) and Mika Yerevan (ARM) take lead with victories against
Vandoeuvre Checs (FRA) and St. Petersburg. After beating favorit Krasnoturinsk
in round 1, Yerevan again wins against a higher ranked team. Former world champion
Maia Chiburdanidze wins on board 1 against Viktorija Cmilyte. This was cornerstone
for success of armenian team.
The fight on table 1 between Sakartvelo and Cheliabinsk ends 2:2. Julia Kochetkove puts Cheliabinsk ahead with her win against Ana Matnadze. In the last game of the day Nana Dzagnidze gets equalization with a win against Ekaterina Kovalevskaya. Krasnoturinsk and Saratov win 4:0.
Men
Victories for the higher ranked teams charakterize round 2 in mens competition.
Live broadcast of the top teams brings interesting games. Viktor Korchnoi draws
his game against Peter Svidler, actual number 4 of the world ranking list. Not
a bad result for 75 years old player. However, Akopian, Malakhov and Dreev save
a 4,5:1,5 for Ural Sverdlovskaya against Schachgesellschaft Zürich.
Totally 14 teams have 4 team-points after this round: Tomsk-400 (RUS), Werder Bremen (GER), Ashdod City Club (ISR), Gros Xake Taldea (ESP), Vesnianka Gran (BLR), TPS Saransk (RUS), Beer Sheva (ISR), Alkaloid Skopje (MKD), BAuset Pardubice (CZE), Ural Sverdlovskaya (RUS), Elara Cheboksary (RUS), Clichy (FRA), Bank King (ARM) and Ladya Kazan (RUS).
Women
A big surprise is a 2,5:1,5 win of Mika Yerevan against Top-Favorit AVS Krasnoturinsk
in the womens competition. Maia Chiburdanidze draws against Antoanete Stefanova.
On board two and three Elina Danielian and Nino Khursidze win against Kosintseva-Sisters.
So a win of Anna Muzychuk doesn´t help the russian team to avoid a team
loss.
The other games bring wins of the favorits. Only Julia Kochetkova of Southern Ural Cheliabinsk draws her game against Maria Komiagina. Finec St. Petersburg, Chess Club Podgorica and Enery-Investi Sakartvelo win 4:0 and take lead.
Men
High wins are a usual result in men´s competion. No team of the "lower
half" can get a team point. Four teams manage it to win 6:0. Bank King
from Armenia, Schachfreund Reichenstein from Switzerland, Sollentuna Chess Club
from Sweden and Schachfreunde Berlin from Germany share position 1 in the table
after round 1.
Six from ten 2700 players started for their teams today. Alexei Shirov, Vladimir Akopian and Alexander Grischuk did 2,5 points for russian favorit Ural Sverdlovskaya. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and David Navara only drew their games, but her team-collueges Bareev, Khalifman, Korotylev and Amonatov assured a 5:1. Vassily Iwantschuk didn´t it better, but his draw against Hannes Stefansson was the only of his team.
