Dear Grader
The central Grading System had a setback this week, when Roger Edward's personal PC hard drive "burnt out". The main grading database is unaffected as it is stored on a different PC.
Roger has now bought a new hard drive, re-installed various software and is restoring from back-ups. However, the back-up cannot be completely guaranteed and it is possible (or even probable?) that some things have been lost. Amongst these are e-mails to Roger and some of the Grading data not yet processed to the main database.
Consequently, will all Graders please re-send any e-mails to Roger not dealt with up to 18th April. Also, anybody who has sent data in "Howell" format to Roger needs to re-send it. (Data sent to Richard Furness will be on the main grading database and so is unaffected.)
I apologize for the significant inconvenience caused to anyone affected. While this is an inconvenience, it is a recoverable problem and should not affect the achievement of a timely and accurate Grading list.
Yours sincerely
C E Majer Acting Director of Grading 24/4/01
