CCF Open Rapidplay, 4 December 2004

The latest Coulsdon Open Rapidplay welcomed entries from 43 players who all played in one large section over 6 rounds. Honours went to International Master Colin Crouch and Coulsdon's Ian Snape, both of whom scored 5 out of 6. They drew with each other in round 4 before missing a good chance of an outright win by being held by theoretically weaker players themselves in round 5.

Four players tied for 3rd. They included Chris Clegg of Kingston, East grinstead junior Joe Fraser, Rasa Norinkeviciute and Richard Almond. They all scored 4.5, just half a point ahead of 7 players that included Coulsdon's Paul Jackson, who after a disappointing draw in the first round, reeled off 3 straight wins and then a draw against the much stronger Jovica Radovanovic to throw himself into the running. Sadly, he lost the final match to Ian Snape and missed out on prizes altogether.
