Richmond Junior Chess Club is seeking to appoint several experienced chess coaches to work with the U9, U11 and U15 chess squads for the 2005/2006 season, as well as additional chess coaches to work with our Intermediate group.
Squad coaches
The U9/U11 Richmond teams both finished in the top 3 squads in the EPSCA event in 2005 and contain several current England National Squad players.
Previous experience of coaching strong junior players or working with EPSCA County squads would be beneficial.
The commitment would involve 8-10 half-day sessions (approximately one per month throughout the year) with a group of 10 children. The dates will be fixed by mutual agreement but will generally be on Saturday afternoons. Ideally we would like each coach to stay with the same group of children throughout the season and attend the EPSCA chess events (March to May 2006).
Intermediate group coaches
From September, there will be two two-hour Intermediate sessions each Saturday, one in the morning, one if the afternoon. Intermediate coaches would work with our existing coaches, Richard James and Scott Kenyon.
We would expect chess coaches for the Intermediate group to make a commitment for the year.
Rates of pay are negotiable but will be competitive and in line with the experience and ability of the coach. Further opportunities for private tuition and/or coaching in Richmond Schools may arise.
Applicants should indicate whether they are interested in coaching the squads, the intermediate group, or both.
Interested candidates should please email a brief c.v. including your current BCF/ELO rating, your view on how to structure a coaching programme for children within these age groups and current contact details to . In line with our current Child Protection Policy we will expect candidates to provide two references. All coaching appointments are also subject to an Enhanced CRB check.
