Golders Green Rapidplay, 11 June 2005

This month, 87 players competed over four sections. We were honoured to have Grandmaster Rashid Ziatdinov from the USA competing in the top section, pitted ultimately against one of his fellow countrymen, International Master James T. Sherwin (famous for several victories against Bobby Fischer). Paul Georghiou was the only player to halt the progress of Ziatdinov, drawing their encounter.

We took a lot of photographs this month! ARE YOU ON FLICKR? PHOTOGRAPHS FROM GOLDERS GREEN AND OTHER CHESS TOURNAMENTS are at www.flickr.com/photos/adamraoof/sets/

In total, £430 in prizes were awarded this month. All scores are out of six games; ungraded players (UNG) may only win 50% of a prize, the balance going to graded players. Female players (F), Juniors (J) and Seniors (S) are marked where known. Half an hour per player per game. Swiss system (i.e. not a knockout).

NEXT MONTHLY RAPIDPLAY EVENT: July 16. COMPLETE LIST OF 2005 DATES (ALL SATURDAYS); August 13, September 10, October 15, November 12, December 10.

2006 GOLDERS GREEN DATES: January 7, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, December 9.
