Pride & Prejudice

Chess Champions

Pride & Prejudice are a ground-breaking new chess team.

Women are currently under-represented in what should be a truly universal sport, as only 4% of chess players are female. The Pride & Prejudice team are the start of a dramatic change in the history of chess. We represent the triumph of female pride in the male dominated chess world.

We compete in the Four Nations Chess League (or 4ncl), the most prestigious team chess tournament ever held in the United Kingdom. We aim to promote chess as a universal, integrated and enlightened sport.

In order to raise the profile of the team and hopefully raise some money to improve opportunities for women and girls’ chess in England, the Pride & Prejudice team appeared on the BBC quiz show Eggheads, where every day, a new team of challengers take on the intellectual goliaths of the Eggheads team, five of the greatest quiz show champions in recent history.
