Dear members,
I am initiating our project of standardazing the (computer) game inputs, which
would be a recommended FIDE standard for all. Such a standard does not exist
at present.
In my opinion, the games are being electronically recorded on an overall poor
level, ranging up to the highest level tournaments, resulting in too many disorganized
PGN (and other) files posted on the Internet, as well as in (official) tournament
bulletins. Why is this as it is now, we don't intend to research, nor comment..
What needs to be addressed:
Entering correct and full names and surnames, as are (mostly) in the FIDE rating
list
Entering full game notation with guidelines on what to do and write when scoresheets
are illegible
Entering draw offers (which are compulsory on scoresheets since a long time
ago, but no one electronically records them)
Entering correct sources, full event names, dates, rounds, annotator names (if
any)
Stating incorrect ways of electronically recording games, etc
I trust our final recommendation and its implementation will result in a far
better quality of recording chess history.
Any suggestions and/or opinions are most welcome.
Best regards,
Jovan Petronic, Chairman
