Chess Federation Annual Council Meeting
to be held on 21 October 2006 in Bistol
Members of British Chess Federation are reminded that if any
individual member wishes to propose business for this meeting,
a resolution must be given in writing to the ECF Office to arrive
no later than 13:00 on Wednesday 13 September 2006.
For the avoidance of doubt, the members of British Chess Federation
are: The Directors and the Secretary of English Chess Federation;
one representative appointed by each autonomous Constituent
Unit; one representative appointed by each autonomous County
Chess Association; The Chairman of ECF Finance Committee; The
Trustees of the Permanent Invested Fund.

Council Agenda
"That Council believes in principle that the name and
Objects of the BCF should be changed to reflect the essentially
English nature of the Federation in the 21st century and will
take steps to give substance to this belief" was approved:
133 for/48 against | Stewart Reuben did not seek re-election
as International Director. The new International Director
is Rupert Jones. The position of Bruce Holland as Director
of Membership Development & ICT was ratified by Council.
Of major significance - Council voted in principle to change
the name of the Federation to reflect the English nature of
it's chess activities - vote 133 for, 48 against.

the Council Meeting of the British Chess Federation held on
April 23rd 2005 it was resolved that the name ‘English
Chess Federation’ should be adopted. It was also resolved
that the number of Directors of the Board of English Chess
Federation shall be subject to a maximum of nine persons -
