There are several places available on the ECF Chess Academy Study Weekend being held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Coventry on 6th (09.30-17.00) and 7th (09.00-16.00) January 2018. Applicants are invited who have an ECF standard play grade of 70-170 and are aged Under 16.
The cost is £130 which includes 5 hours coaching (excluding breaks) each day for students with a titled coach such as Glenn Flear, Nigel Davies or Andrew Martin (total 10 hours), text book, equipment and 3 hours (optional) sessions for parents on helping your child to be successful in their chess.
Topics for the weekend (as per the FIDE syllabus)
MAJOR – Pawn Structures; MINOR – Doubled Pawns: good and bad
MAJOR – The Best Games of Bobby Fischer: what can we learn from them?; MINOR – Blocked Central Pawn Structures
IMPORTANT! These topics will be taught at an advanced level not beginner level therefore it is essential that students arrive at the weekend with a pre-existing understanding and working knowledge of the topics. You must be eligible to play for England (i.e. not another country) and not committed to another FIDE Academy.
