From 25th September – 5th October in Budoni, Italy. The event will be played in two age categories [50+ and 65+] with Open and Women’s sections separately. The events will be played over 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes till the end of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds for each move, starting from move one. If the total number of women’s teams is less than nine, the Women’s section will be merged with the Open section but with separate prizes.
The total prize fund of the event will be €8000. The top three players from each category of the European Senior Chess Championship 2021 will qualify for the FIDE World Senior Championship 2022 or 2023, with personal rights including free board and lodging.
The regisration deadline is September 5th, 2021, with registrations by email to senior@unichess.it
Upon arrival to the tournament, all participants, referees and staff (including Italian citizens) must present to the Organising Committee a certificate of full vaccination or a 72h negative PCR test for Covid-19. Additional measures will comply with the Italian and ECU health protocols.
