Here are the latest details and dates for the main Seniors events in 2023. Please note that qualification for most Seniors events states that you must reach the age requirement within the calendar year of the event eg to play in a 50+ event you must be aged 50 by the end of that calendar year and likewise for the 65+ age group. In date order, the main Seniors events are as follows —
The English Seniors Chess Championships
4 – 8 May, at the Woodland Grange, Old Milverton Lane, Leamington Spa, CV32 6RN. Two sections for players aged 50+ and 65+ by 31st December 2023. Players must be born in England or have lived in England for at least the preceding 12 months. In addition, if they have a FIDE registration, it must be ENG. The European Seniors Individual Chess Championship

The European Seniors Team Chess Championship
11 – 21 July, Swidnica, Poland. The venue is a city in Silesia, south-west Poland. Further details can be found at https://www.europechess.org/european-senior-team-chess-championship-2023-official-invitation/ or in the official invitation (PDF). The nearest airport, Wroclaw (40.3km distant, pronounced approximately Vrotslav) is served by Ryanair. As always this comprises of the 50+ and 65+ age groups and anyone interested in playing in one of the England Teams should contact Nigel Povah.
The British Seniors Chess Championships
21 – 30 July, at The Venue, De Montfort University in Leicester.Both the 50+ and 65+ championships are 7 rounds and run concurrently from 24-30 July. Further details can be found at https://www.englishchess.org.uk/british-chess-championships-2023/
The World Senior Teams Chess Championships
18 – 29 September, Struga (Ohrid Lake), North Macedonia. See here for further details.
