The 30th World Senior Individual Chess Championship, which is taking place in Assisi in Italy has just passed the halfway stage, with the completion of round 6 on Sunday 19th November in this 11-round event. There is a decent English delegation of 15 players.

In the Over 65 Championship, England GM John Nunn, the top seed, is the sole leader with 5.5 out of 6, after five straight wins and then a draw with Black against former World 65+ Champion GM Vlastimil Jansa.  Terry Chapman and Paul Hutchinson are also having good tournaments on 4/6.

In the Over 50 Championship, FM Stephen Dishman is have an excellent tournament with 4.5/6, having beaten GM Keith Arkell and drawing with two other GMs including the top seed and former 50+ World and European Champion, Georgian GM Zurab Sturua. On current form he stands a good chance of making his third and final IM norm.  Keith Arkell is on 4/6 and so far, is having a disappointing tournament by his high standards.
