England wins Silver at World Senior Team Chess Championship

England have won the silver medals at the World Senior Team Championship in the 50+ section. The team won seven matches, drew one and lost only one. Overall they scored 15 match points and ended just one point away from top seeds and gold medallists USA, whom England defeated in their Round 4 match.  Team spirit was excellent throughout the tournament, and all the players performed well. Jonathan Speelman scored 4½/7 on board 1, John Emms 5/7 on board 2, Mark Hebden 5/7 on board 3, James Plaskett 5½/8 on board 4, and Keith Arkell 6½/7 on board 5.  Medals for individual boards were also won by Keith Arkell (Gold), John Emms (Silver), James Plaskett (Bronze) and Mark Hebden (Bronze)
