A new badge system has been introduced whenever possible from 26/3/18 onwards. An amber wheelchair (below) means that the venue has at least some disability-friendly aspects, whereas a green wheelchair (also below) means it’s particularly so. This prestigious three-day event has sections for Under 8, Under 12, Under 16 and Under 18/21. The Under 18/21 is combined with the LJCC Christmas Open. The Under 8 is held over two days, 29th and 30th December and is rapidplay. The other sections play on all three days. The Under 18/21 and Under 16 are both FIDE rated. The Under 12 attracts a very large entry and is run as Major and Minor sections. Competitors must gain qualification to play in the Under 8 and Under 12 as detailed at www.ljcc.co.uk. In response to the popular demand BBCA has switched to incremental time control replacing the previous fixed time control system.  All rounds of the ECF graded Open & Major sections will be played with 10-minute plus five-second incremental time control. Entry fee is only £20 for adults and £15 for juniors for both sections.  However, all players are required to be ECF Silver and above members. All other players, including foreign players with FIDE ID, must pay an additional £7.50 with the entry fee. Discounted entry fee is available for BBCA members. Attractive 1st and 2nd prizes along with several grading prizes are available in Open and Major sections.
