In response to the popular demand BBCA has switched to incremental time control replacing the previous fixed time control system. All rounds of the ECF graded Open & Major sections will be played with 10-minute plus five-second incremental time control. Entry fee is only £20 for adults and £15 for juniors for both sections. However, all players are required to be ECF Silver and above members. All other players, including foreign players with FIDE ID, must pay an additional £7.50 with the entry fee. Discounted entry fee is available for BBCA members. Attractive 1st and 2nd prizes along with several grading prizes are available in Open and Major sections.

This competition is a one-day rapid play event, with 20 minutes for each player to make their moves per game, with five rounds taking place across the day. This is a Closed Championship, and only East Anglian Chess Union players are eligible to enter. It will be a five round Swiss tournament with three sections – Open, U170 and U130 – and will include the EACU Junior Championships in each section as well. The winner of the Open section will be the EACU Open Champion, and will qualify for a place in the 2020 British Championship.
