Two sections – INTER (159 AND UNDER) and FOUNDATION (UNDER 120). Some prizes are a percentage of the entry fee but the “points for prizes” is scrapped. Only £17 for ECF Silver members to enter the Foundation. It is slightly more to enter the Inter, but the 1st prize is £160 this year.
Whitby is well known for Dracula and Captain Cook, and is a beautiful seaside resort, with a lively harbour area with many bars and restaurants. The venue sells drink and some food. You can bring your own to the room upstairs in what was Whitby Chess Club, by the petrol station half a mile from the train/bus station.
