A new badge system has been introduced whenever possible from 26/3/18 onwards. Musketeers Juniors Chess Club is once again hosting its annual friendly Club Junior Chess Congress. The ethos of the day is one of friendly competition for both beginners and experienced players – an ideal introduction to tournament chess. Entries received by 5th November will go into a prize draw for a chance to win back their entry fee. Age as at 1st January 2017 – U18 and U8 sections open to players from all areas. U9, U10, U11 sections are qualifiers open only to those eligible to compete in the 2017 Welsh Junior Championships. Players in these age groups who are not eligible are welcome to enter the U18 section instead, which is open to all.

UKCC Qualifier. 3 sections – U9 and U11 will be qualifiers for UKCC (ages are those on the 31st August, 2018 midnight) Open Section: Players above 11 years, who do not need qualification or the players who already qualified.
Time control: 15 minutes each player plus 5 seconds per move. Assistance will be given to any child unfamiliar with using chess clocks. Number of rounds: 7 for U9/U11 and 6 for Open Section. UKCC trophies for the best performers in U9 and U11, trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for all the sections, trophies for best girl performer in each section.
