A new badge system has been introduced whenever possible from 26/3/18 onwards. An amber wheelchair (below) means that the venue has at least some disability-friendly aspects, whereas a green wheelchair (also below) means it’s particularly so. The UKI Chess Championships are open to all children in the UK and Ireland. This is an individual event as well as a school team event – you can enter as an individual or a school team. There are trophies for the top three girls and boys schools according to the scores of their top four players. The girls play separately to the boys with trophies for the overall champions and rosettes awarded for those scoring 11 points or more. No one is knocked out all 5 rounds are played | Entry form

The competition is open to Civil Servants and will will be a rapid play event with 25minutes each on the chess clock under the FIDE rules of Chess. Players will get multiple games over the day. There will be section for people graded 100 and over under the English Chess Federation grading system and for those from 99 down to ungraded. If there are a limited number of entries then there will be one group only. We welcome both experienced players and people new to competitive chess. This is a two day junior training camp timed for the start of the school holidays and the week before the British Championships. The days are designed for children to be left although there is a separate room for parents if wanted. Places are limited to 30. IM Richard Pert will lead the coaching assisted by local junior coach Robin Slade and popular female coach Lateefah Messam-Sparks. This event’s main aim is for guests to enjoy themselves whilst increasing their knowledge of chess and gaining confidence in using various tactics. The holiday includes –
A seven-round Swiss competition; a look at some games from the past; tutorial sessions covering Opening principles, Middle Game, Endgame techniques; chess tactics (pin, skewer, fork and discovered check); analysis of games played at the hotel.
We will be joined for a day by Raymond Keene OBE, Grandmaster, FIDE international arbiter, journalist and author. The holiday is suitable for anyone from the inexperienced (ungraded) player to local club players, though not for anyone above 150 grading | Accessibility statement
