5 round junior tournament with small group coaching sessions between rounds. WIM Natasha Regan is our guest coach this year. Friendly tournament with entrants split into groups broadly by age (senior school section and one or two junior school sections) with some fluidity across groups if skill level makes this appropriate. Draw is loosely based on the Swiss system but adapted so we pair those of similar ability together from round 1. Hence tournament format is particularly suited to novice players.

The UKI Chess Championships are open to all children in the UK and Ireland. This is an individual event as well as a school team event – you can enter as an individual or a school team. There are trophies for the top three girls and boys schools according to the scores of their top four players. The competition is open to Civil Servants and will will be a rapid play event with 25minutes each on the chess clock under the FIDE rules of Chess. Players will get multiple games over the day. There will be section for people graded 100 and over under the English Chess Federation grading system and for those from 99 down to ungraded. Bughouse (Exchange) chess is a variation of chess played with two teams of two people on two chess boards.
Entry fee is £15.00 per person or £30.00 per team. Both individual and team applications are accepted. Individuals who do not have a teammate can still enroll and they will be paired on the day of the tournament. A maximum of 10 teams will be accepted. The prize fund will total about 60% of the entry fees taken and will be set during the first round

This is a two day junior training camp timed for the start of the school holidays and the week before the British Championships. The days are designed for children to be left although there is a separate room for parents if wanted. Places are limited to 30. IM Richard Pert will lead the coaching assisted by local junior coach Robin Slade and popular female coach Lateefah Messam-Sparks.
