National Final of an event run across the country with the winners of Regional Finals qualifying for the national final. The Team Chess Challenge is a competition open to any British school with pupils in any of years 7 to 13 (English year groups). Each team taking part consists of four pupils who attend the same school and are in year 6 or above. Scotland’s largest annual weekend chess congress, in which the Premier Event is FIDE rated using the time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move for all events. Tournament for IAPS affiliated prep schools. Sections for different age groups and different abilities including a Championship section for the strongest players from each school. Boarding facilities are available for schools wishing to board. Day entries also welcome.
Other activities provided for the boarders include a games evening, trip to Chessington World of Adventure or Thorpe Park and a five a side football competition. Supervision is provided by the accompanying staff. Entries need to be by the individual schools via the IAPS Sports website.
