Federation announces new ‘ECF Supporter’ arrangements

The English Chess Federation is pleased to announce a new ‘ECF Supporter’ category for participation in its activities.  The ECF Supporter category will cost £5 per year and it will include benefits, such as receiving the ECF members’ eNewsletter. It is hoped that this new category will be attractive to social chess players and chess supporters.
Speaking about the new arrangements Chris Fegan, ECF Director of Women’s Chess, said,
‘This is an exciting and innovative new development. We know that there are thousands of people who play social chess but who do not want to play competitively or receive an ECF grade. Many of these people play on the Internet, as well as in the traditional over-the-board setting, and this new ECF Supporter category is aimed at all these sorts of chess players. Often, these chess players and supporters have never previously been involved with the ECF, and we want to include them, work with them and support them in their chess activities – this is the first step to doing so. The office phones are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm if you have any difficulties. Please note that the ECF Supporter category is not available to juniors, and it runs in line with the ECF fixed membership year from 1st September to the 31st of the following August …
