Saturday 5th September at 6:30pm on the Chess.com platform – G60/15
It has taken 126 years for the North of England to issue the long awaited challenge to the South of England for a rematch to determine whether the supremacy established by the South in 1893 in Birmingham, and re-affirmed in 1894 in London, has stood the test of time. After a summer of national club, county and regional ECF online standard-rated chess, what better way to launch the 2020/21 season than to re-ignite those ancient rivalries and combine with the modern ECF Online Clubs to produce a truly epic national match, open to all ECF 2020/2021 Members and Supporters.
A multi-board, all-England match, over as many boards as we can muster. Those who sign up will play, though we may have to invoke some dual allegiances to balance the numbers. Visit the event web page for more information (and a look back to the 1893 and 1894 matches), and if you have renewed your membership, register now to avoid disappointment!
