Silver and Gold Membership Merge/2024 British Chess Championships

We’ve now completed the IT changes to put into effect the decision made at the English Chess Federation’s Finance Council meeting last April to merge existing Silver and Gold memberships into one single new Gold membership class. If you’re a Silver member there’s no need to do anything – your membership change to the new Gold category will happen automatically. Please note that the changes to membership categories have been made in our JustGo membership system, and should be reflected by tomorrow (Saturday) morning in the Rating System. 2024 British Chess Championships
A reminder that the 2024 British Chess Championships are less than three weeks away and will take place from Thursday 25th July to Sunday 4th August at Hull City Hall and the DoubleTree by Hilton, Hull. You can find full details here:

Tournament Details
Details for the various tournaments can be found on the links below, including schedules, format, entry fees, prizes and eligibility. Championship events are shown with an asterisk. The main Championship is open to eligible players who have qualified. Other Championship events are  open to all eligible players born or resident in the British Isles and meeting the age criteria. Other non-Championship events are open to all.

Festival Events, Commentary, Coaching and Bookstall
As well as the tournaments there will be a full programme of festival events including outdoor/drop-in chess, a Ukrainian cultural chess evening, GM simuls, master-classes, team events, problem solving events, pizza making, a quiz night, and ghost walks and tours. The festival programme will take place at the venue and in various locations in and around Hull City Centre. There will also be IM/ GM commentary broadcast from the City Hall venue, coaching available during the Junior Championships, and a well-stocked bookstall from Chess & Bridge.
