The morning of Round 8 was the second 2400 Czech IM simul of the tournament. This time, Matthew and Boris both played. Matthew had the much better game, only going down when he was one of the last few remaining. This motivated him to a win a nice rook and pawn ending, checkmating his opponent with pawn to h5. In the afternoon, Boris played his best game of the tournament in Round 8 with faultless play to notch up another point.

Play in Round 9 starts at 8.30am, followed by lunch and an afternoon prize-giving, then journeys home.
