109th British Chess Championships

Today is International Chess Day – a fitting day for the 109th British Chess Championships to start. We kick off today at DMU in Leicester with an evening blitz tournament.. The Championships will be taking place from 20th to 30th July with the main British Championship starting on Saturday 22nd and being played over 9 rounds until Sunday 30th July.

As well as the main Championship we have the Major Open, Senior and Junior Championships and a series of standardplay, rapid and blitz tournaments for players at all levels.  

We are expecting record numbers of entrants for the various tournaments over the 11 days and we also have a full programme of festival events.
