The ECF is launching a consultation about the County Championship.
The Board has identified 5 relevant stakeholders:
- The ECF Board, who regard the Championship as one of their flagship competitions.
- The five regional Unions, who nominate counties to take part in the national stage.
- The counties
- The people who captain the county teams
- The players who play for the county teams or might do so if the format of the competition were modified
The ECF regularly receives comments from a number of these stakeholders about ways to improve the Championship, and so four questionnaires have been produced below. We are keen to hear from as many people as possible to guide the Board in making recommendations for changes to the Championship.
The process will be as follows:
Stage 1 – Questionnaires, inviting responses by 1st December
Stage 2 – Formulating proposals based on the responses (December)
Stage 3 – Publishing proposals in January, inviting public comments.
Stage 4 – Modifying the proposal in the light of comments received.
Stage 5 – If necessary, voting on the proposal at the ECF Finance Council Meeting in April.
The new proposal, if approved, will then be in force from the 2018/19 season.
The deadline to fill in the below questionnaires is Friday, 1st December. If you want to respond in more than one capacity, you are welcome to fill in as many of the questionnaires as you wish.
Unions – Unions Questionnaire
Counties – Counties Questionnaire
Captains – Captains Questionnaire
Players – Players Questionnaire
