On 15 October HM Government issued the latest update of its document, ‘Guidance: Protective measures for holiday and after-school clubs, and other out-of-school settings during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak’ – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/protective-measures-for-holiday-or-after-school-clubs-and-other-out-of-school-settings-for-children-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/protective-measures-for-out-of-school-settings-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak.
The section headed ‘Managing group sizes’ makes it clear that, subject of course to following the guidance set out in the rest of the document, groups of up to 15 children are still permitted for junior chess activities.
